Master Aesthetics Series: Ethereal Chronicle Keycaps — Yoshitaka Amano

The inspiration for this set comes from the way Yoshitaka Amano stretches narrative across time.

The story does not appear whole. It is dismantled, forgotten, and preserved in fragments.

Across the top surface of each key, a poetic two-dimensional illustration unfolds — flowing lines, fractured emblems, abstract historical symbols, and botanical ornaments woven together. Like the scattered remnants of a myth, broken apart and scattered across a keyboard as the surviving pages of a chronicle.

The material is not presented as plain plastic. Instead, the visual language simulates the fiber texture of aged book paper, the soft bloom of watercolor pigment, the faint shimmer of metallic ink lines, and the worn traces left by hands that have turned these pages many times over.

That sense of time is itself part of the design.

Bone white, pale green, light grey, and dark gold form the overall palette — high in luminosity, yet always restrained. The image stays quiet, distant, and unhurried.

The characters are rendered with extreme lightness — like marginal annotations or page numbers. Present, but never interrupting the reading.

This is a keycap set made for long hours of use.
It is also a story that cannot quite be told in full.
