We treated the keyboard as a geological stratum.
Then we turned every keycap into a sealed fossil.
The Fossil Epoch keycap set draws from paleontological fossils, rock cross-sections, and museum specimen cards to build a complete input system for Earth’s memory.
The Letter Keys — Specimen Records
The letter zone is an archaeological field record. Each keycap carries a fossil specimen: dinosaur vertebrae, nautilus shells, mammoth tusks, gastropod shells… And beneath each key, a Specimen No. label — as if catalogued by a museum curator.
The Number Keys — Ten Geological Eras
From the Cambrian to the Cretaceous. Each number key is a fragment of time sliced from a rock layer — ten epochs, ten cross-sections of deep history.
The Function Keys — Paleontology Lab
- F1 — Fossil Scan
- F4 — Core Sample Drill
- F12 — Time Capsule Access
- Shift & Ctrl — Excavation tools, air compressors, fossil cleaning systems
Materials & Colors
Bone white · Rock brown · Moss green · Rust red — across cracked slate grain textures and semi-transparent resin. Select keycaps are cast in amber-like resin — you can see into time itself.
Every keystroke is not input.
It is excavation.
Every string of typing is not language.
It is a specimen number.
